Monitoring, evaluation and research

Are investments of time, effort and finance going to reap rewards, and can we be doing better?

At NETGES, our experts integrate research, monitoring and evaluation into all stages of development programming. We want programmes to strengthen the development of people, communities, and governments to realise the right to services such as health and education.

Using a range of research methods tailored to the context, and drawing on our extensive experience and knowledge of the international development sector, we examine a range of possibilities on behalf of clients. We strive to answer the questions: what works, what doesn't, and what can be done to strengthen current policies and practices?

What we specialise in

  • Monitoring and evaluation of development programmes
  • Quantitative and participatory research to inform the planning, implementation and progress of health and social development programmes
  • Impact evaluation: demonstrating development outcomes for intended beneficiaries and population groups using a range of experimental and quasi-experimental models
  • Innovative and pragmatic research and evaluation design: combining the best mix of methods and tools adapted to the circumstances in order to answer the evaluation questions raised by our clients
  • Managing for results: demonstrating measurable results for the money spent and helping clients reorient their focus from inputs and processes to outcomes and impact

We know that context can have an impact on whether the same intervention works better or worse in different settings. So we ensure our evaluations are founded on rigorous and participatory context analysis. We use a range of methodologies to allow people to explore the issues they face and we engage with stakeholder groups at the beginning, middle and end of each evaluation.
